Cyril Lancelin
Cyril Lancelin (born in 1975, Lyon, France) is a french artist.
Cyril Lancelin develops a hybrid work made up of sculptures, immersive installations, drawings, virtual experiences in the Metaverse and videos that forge links between the physical and the fictional.
It is from a plastic vocabulary based on primitive geometry that he links architecture and the human body, the everyday and the functional, the perennial and the ephemeral, science and nature.
He began his career working for architects and artists in Paris and Los Angeles, using 3D modeling techniques and virtual images that he developed in the 1990s.
He is using Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in his exploration of the tridimensionnal matter research.
His practice is shaped by immersion and movement, by the porosity of limits, by innovation, by a search for a world that is half data, half real.
The notions of repetition and parametric generation are recurring themes in his work. It anticipates our passage into a world of multiplied and shared data.
The artist sets up a connected territory through a conceptual dialogue between his practices and the experience of the public.
Digital or real, his works offer an essentially optimistic vision, drawing an artificial and experiential landscape.

Pyramid Wave
K.D.Art curated the grand opening exhibition for Fuzhou MixC by inviting a world-renowned architect and sculptor, Cyril Lancelin, to create the bespoke Pyramid Wave art series
We have explored approaches to deconstruct water to harvest aesthetics and the philosophy of “there’s a universe embedded in the water”, attempting to refine the spiritual culture touched by Fuzhou and Fuzhou MixC and to reach an artistic highland through deconstruction, the simple molecular geometry of H2O and the deciphering of the impact of water on social culture, ecosystem, and environment. We set out from the deconstruction of water and return to the nature of water, just as what’s explained in I-Ching: “The Heaven shapes the Origin, that then gives birth to Water, and Water is the maker of all lives” and the eastern philosophy of “All lives shall return to water” to form a closed-loop train of thoughts. This collection is located on the blessed grounds of Fuzhou, where the Fuzhou MixC stands
Cube

Cube Piano, in the series of "Cube" designed by French artist Cyril Lancelin for HKRI Taikoo Hui, is a monumental and immersive artwork that reimagines the relationship between music, art, and community. This vibrant installation features a piano integrated into a striking inflatable structure, inviting musicians of all levels—beginners and experts alike—to step into a world of creative expression.
The design, with black and white stripes symbolizing piano keys, rises amidst a sea of blue and purple squares that evoke musical notes soaring skyward. This textured, open-air “building” acts as both a window to the city and a newly imagined performance space. Inside this short-lived auditorium, anyone can become a performer—whether playing solo, in pairs, or even without sheet music—transforming the anonymous into the celebrated.
Cube Piano offers more than a space to play music; it’s a portal into an imaginative world. Optical illusions and intricate textures guide visitors through curves and openings bathed in playful light. Music winds through the installation, resonating with the rhythm of life, as visitors are encouraged to play, sing, dance, or clap.
As day turns to night, the ephemeral musical palace comes alive with glowing hues, transforming the space into a beacon of creativity and artistic exchange.

Flap³ is an interactive artwork that explores the relationship between the viewer, the artwork, and technology. In partnership with @GoogleATAP and @DesignMiami, Flap³ uses 12 Soli radar sensors - a miniature radar developed by Google ATAP that understands human motions at various scales - visitors can influence the form and create a unique ever-evolving shape through their movements and speed, resulting in a dialogue and gesture between the viewer and the artwork.
Flap³ 's movement is defined by the virtual and variables Lancelin integrates into the sculpture which the public is invited to explore and serves as a bridge between them, creating a shared space of creativity that viewers can experience and share on social media networks.
Mille Miroirs

Mille Mirrors seamlessly integrates architecture, design, and art to craft an immersive and engaging experience. Designed by French designer Cyril Lancelin, the work embodies his vision of connecting architecture with the human body, blending the everyday with the functional, and harmonizing the eternal with the ephemeral. With a commitment to fostering beauty, Lancelin demonstrates how art can serve as a bridge between disciplines, cultures, and people. His creations reflect a focus on sustainability, resulting in „multifunctional ecosystems” that communicate through a universal visual language.
The installation features geometric forms composed of golden spheres, creating a reflective, mesmerizing, and dreamlike artificial landscape. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the structure by exploring its spaces, moving through its shadows, lights, and reflections. Presented by Fidenza Village, part of The Bicester Collection, this project showcases Lancelin’s exceptional ability to design works that seamlessly integrate with their surroundings, transforming them into interactive and thought-provoking environments.
